Re: WEEKLY CHALLENGE: 2009-12-14
And thus we conclude our first weekly minigame challenge!
I would like to thank all of our submitter(s) for their efforts on the project.
As I had never really elaborated on how the game would be judged, it might seem a bit unfair to some that I now attribute points based on my arbitrary system. Yeah, sucks to be a submitter.
So, the score will be out of 10
- THEME: 5 out of 5, the game completely embraced the idea of the theme! YAY!!
- CONTROLS: 0.25 out of 1, I had a hard time reconciling why the buttons one above the other controlled going faster or slower, the buttons one beside another control UP AND DOWN. I convinced myself that an WASD would have been better, and then swore at the dev team when WASD wasn't working. I'm not sure two input devices were necessary. However, the controls WERE smooth, when I could remember how they worked. That's worth a quarter point.
- GRAPHICS: 1 out of 1, the game does not look displeasing!
- SOUND: 0 out of 1, didn't really hear anything while playing. Maybe I should have turned off my MP3 player to be sure...
- FUN: 1 out of 1, quite amusing, I really enjoy adding extra challenges for myself, such as going through hoops upside down.
- BRIBE: 0 out of 1, this was sorely lacking...
This gives us a total of 7.25 out of 10
But WAIT!! There's MORE!! As per the game description, there is a BONUS attributed if the game had starts that the player can loop around. While there isn't really a need to 'loop' around the stars, the basic premise has been complied with, and as such, the bonus will be awarded. That's gives one additional point.
Our hero's final score is
8.25 out of 10. I declared him the undisputed winner.
I think we're going to need a trophy. And more competitors.
